Important Updates on Upcoming In-Person Practices
Please be noted that Beginner’s Practice has not resumed yet until further notice, the information below (including the practice on Sept 9) are all for advanced practice, updates of beginners recruitment should come soon.
As mentioned in the previous emails and announcements, we will officially resume our in-person practices starting from September 9th (Thursday), 8pm to 11pm. New adjustments have been made for the upcoming In-Person practices for the Fall semester.
We will be utilizing the Dance Studio permanently for our regular practice venue as both the Fencing Salle and the Upper Gym are under renovation. All our regular time slots and equipment have been moved to the Dance Studio accordingly.
The new schedule for our practices in the Fall semester will be:
Thursday 8pm - 11pm
Saturday 10am - 1pm
Sunday advanced practices are removed at the moment. This will apply until further notice.
Furthermore, protocols have been applied by the U of T Athletic Centre (hereinafter called the “AC”) to continue our In-Person practices in a safer environment:
1. Social Distancing Restrictions
There are no restrictions from the AC regarding social distancing, in this case, the practice format in this coming semester will be normal Bogu practices (Basics and Waza drills) with no Keiko. Please note that loud kiai and tsubazariai are discouraged during in-person practice until further notice.
2. Maximum Capacity
Only 25 people (50% of the maximum capacity) are allowed to practice in the Dance Studio at one time. This restriction will be lifted when we move out of Stage 3 issued by the Ontario Government.
3. Masks & Face Shield
Masks are also required to wear during practice, along with a kendo face shield that attaches to the inside of the men (bogu). Reusable kendo face shields will be provided by the Club for $10 each. Please bring your money to purchase the face shield during your first practice.
4. Proof of Vaccination
All U of T students are required to submit proof of vaccination against COVID-19 before coming to campus this fall. Proof of Full vaccination will be required by October 15th so please have this with you as you will need it for submission on the U of T UCheck health screening tool before you are able to come onto campus.
In addition, to participate in athletic activities, all athletes are required to submit their proof of vaccination in the following link: Click Here
5. Pre-Visit Screening Form (Entry into AC)
Participants must complete a pre-visit screening form on the day of their visit before using AC facilities. This screening form must be completed and shown to AC staff upon entry into the building. Please see below for links to the pre-visit screening form:
